PGHretail is partnering with the Brighton Heights Citizen Federation to host the California Markets every second Saturday! Each month has a community event theme related to an established business on California Ave. and we’re inviting local makers, businesses, farmers, and organizations that are progressive and fun to join us.
Application Deadline: 2 weeks prior to scheduled event *(5/25, 6/29, 7/27,8/31)
Vendor Acceptance Notification: By first Saturday of the month at the latest
Time: Every Second Saturday!
June 8: 11am – 5pm (load in at 9:30am + vendors can stay longer if crowd continues)
July 13: 11am – 5pm (load in at 9:30am + vendors can stay longer if crowd continues)
August 10: 11am – 5pm (load in at 9:30am + vendors can stay longer…)
September 14th: 11am – 5pm (load in at 9:30am + vendors can stay longer…)
Location: California Ave. between Termon & Davis Avenues in Brighton Heights. Tents and tables will be set up along the street/sidewalk on both sides. Each space is 10×10′.

What do we provide?
Organization and promotion of the event, local businesses, and an awesome community throughout Summer 2013.
// PROMOTION //
A full social media and promotional campaign will promote local businesses (vendors) and the event.
// VENDORS SELECTION //
Vendors will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis and admitted to this event based on quality of products, diversity of goods/services, and appropriateness of business’ aesthetic to the audience and potential success at our markets. We are privileged to create this event with the help of the URA’s Biz Buzz Grant and are interested in supporting local farmers, makers, nonprofits, and community interests that tailor to this business corridor. We will not be able to accept all applicants on their choice of month(s) and encourage vendors who are on our waiting list to re-consider applying for more than one California Market at no additional charge.
// WAITING LIST //
We may experience a few cancellations and will pull from the waiting list if spots become open.
// VENDOR AGREEMENT //
We will send you an agreement to sign that should be scanned and emailed or mailed back to us preceding each event.
// SALES //
There is no guarantee that participating vendors will have sales the day of the market. PGHretail works to ensure superior public relations, advertising, and public awareness of the event and the purpose of the event – to support local businesses and inspire relationship building/new customers for participating vendors. Sales on the day of the event are each vendor’s responsibility.
// TAXES //
Each vendor is responsible for reporting and paying sales tax. For Pittsburgh taxes see: http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/finance/html/forms-business.html#business
// INSURANCE //
It is the responsibility of the vendor to have business liability insurance.
// FOOD VENDORS //
All food vendors must be licensed and carry their permit with them at the event.
We will notify you within 5 business days that your application has been received as submitted and will provide info about our selection process. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 2 days of application, please email us at email@example.com to confirm.
All information, questions, and application fee are mandatory to move on to vendor selection.
